First Design Job

Its been a busy week but excited to learn some new skills in producing 3D Sketches & automated into video.

Here's a concept I was working on today to convert an outdoor area into an enclosed study area.  Not bad for learning a new skill in one day..

Key drivers for this space were

  • Continuity with existing house using colour, tiles and existing sliding doors - Bifold Plantation shutters suggested to conceal the existing sliding doors. Existing sliding doors moved from bedroom to the dining room, to connect the dining room to the entertaining space. Half wall replacing sliders with plantation shutters installed mid Height.
  • Light - Horizontal window installed on Eastern wall to allow maximum light through at the height of the desk.  Window is fully recycled.  Aligned to the window is a cozy reading area, with Replica Egg Chair and Floor Lamp. A simple white floor lamp with stainless ball post, can be secured from masters for juts $59.
  • Economical Design- To avoid the expense of customised cabinetry, laminated benches are used for desks throughout the study. Supported by guide rail and stainless posts in corner areas, this provides maximum workspace with minimal footprint.  At $69 for 220cm white laminated workbenches from Ikea, this is a very economical option.  Complimented by Ikea's ODDA wall shelf with build in sliders at $129 each, a bargain. Suggest, MDF backing, painted or adhered with wall paper to customise this space.
  • Storage, storage, Storage- What study would be complete without storage. These 2 drawer filing cabinets fitting snug under the benches are a bargain at $99 from OfficeWorks.

Heres some more details and check out the movies of the 3d models.
